WordPress runs a large part of the web — roughly 43% of all websites globally. That alone says a lot. It’s widely used because it works, and because it fits the needs of most businesses without overcomplicating things.

It’s quick to build on and easy to live with. Most designers and developers can work with WordPress, which means you’re not tied to one agency or one person. If the site needs to move later, it usually can. That flexibility matters more over time than people expect.

For day-to-day use, it’s approachable. Non-technical users can update content, add pages, and manage their own site without touching code. Features can be added as the site grows too. Usually without rebuilding everything from scratch. And usually without big development costs.

WordPress isn’t perfect. It’s a general-purpose platform and works best for business websites, local services, blogs and e-commerce. For things like trading platforms or highly specialised web applications, it’s often the wrong tool. In those cases, bespoke builds can be cleaner and more tightly tailored — but they almost always take longer, cost a lot more, and rely heavily on whoever built them.

Some WordPress sites do use paid plugins or subscriptions for updates and added functionality. Over the life of a website, though, these costs are typically tiny — especially when compared to the time, expense, and long-term maintenance involved in building and supporting a bespoke CMS. It’s worth mentioning Qubiweb does share licenses that we have with plugins and page builders at least 2 years after build, but will probably be available for years to come.

Most projects fit WordPress well. Bespoke builds still have a place. The trick is knowing which one you actually need.

We allocate an hour with new clients for CMS training, provided they are using our approved page builder. After this session, clients should be confident handling their own website maintenance, including plugin updates and content changes.

We also offer subscription-based plans that provide ongoing website management and hosting support. For clients who prefer a completely hands-off approach, simply send through your requests and we’ll take care of everything for you.

Most businesses come to us needing roughly the same things. Every now and then, though, a client asks for something more custom. When that happens, we always talk through the requirements upfront so everyone’s clear before work begins.

In practice, the majority of what our clients need can be handled comfortably using reliable, well-supported plugins. These tend to suit local businesses particularly well and keep things simple, stable, and cost-effective.

Our main focus is helping local companies get websites that actually do something — generate enquiries, prompt action, and bring in leads. If a time ever comes when a client needs more advanced functionality, such as a custom-coded plugin that we don’t build in-house, WordPress is more than capable.

Qubiweb is a local web design and SEO company, development isn’t our true focus. If you’re looking for a company that does custom development we may not be an ideal fix for you. We do have development expertise for resolving technical issues, improving core web vitals and eliminating styling issues.

Managing expectations matters.

We can tailor a lot of the design to suit each client’s needs, but it’s worth saying that design preferences can vary wildly from person to person. Because of that, we make a point of aligning early.

Right at the start of the process, we take the time to make sure we’re on the same page about what’s achievable and what to expect.

All websites require an active domain name, which must be renewed annually, as well as a hosting plan to store and run the site. We are licensed for several softwares and provide those licenses to our clients as part of the build.

We guarantee at least two years of access to any licensed tools included. If we continue using those tools beyond that period, access may be extended.

Clients will always be informed in advance of any additional costs that may apply after the initial term.
